Boys and Girls Club of Burbank A Message from our Executive Director As we enter in to the busy holiday season let us all take time to remember what it means to give. Regardless of our religion or have we celebrate the holidays, the most important thing to remember is that the true gift for the holidays, is to give of yourself. Whether it be through volunteering friendship, family, etc and we at the Boys and Girls Club are extremely grateful to all of you that have given to the youth in our community. Happy Holidays! Shanna Vaughan Macys Thanks for Sharing Campaign Macys Department Store has began their “Thanks for Sharing” Campaign. For the fifth consecutive year the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank has been chosen to be a benefactor for the campaign. With the proceeds from last years donation, the club was able to continue with their mission in reaching out to as many children in the community and give them a place to develop their education and social skills. The club was also able to scholarship many children, as we never turn any child away. If you are interested in contributing to the campaign go to your local Macys Dept. Store and shop using your Macys Credit Card. If you don't have one apply for a new Macy Card, while ten dollars will go to the charities chosen. Visit www.macys.com for an application. Turner Broadcasting plants a project at the club In September 2005, Turner Broadcasting approached the club wanting to work on a club project. The project turned out to be a “Garden Project.” Volunteers from Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, and CNN stopped by and planted flowers and put up white picket fences at the club. Volunteers spent all morning and afternoon digging out old bushes and replacing them with flowers. Club members have taken a likening in the new gardens and take turns watering and cleaning around the garden. Garden in front of the Boys and Girls Club Page 2
