I BELIEVE in my Boys & Girls Club which stands for these things.
6. History The Brigade Boys and Girls Club was started by Col. Walker Taylor (1864-1937). Col. Taylor was a Wilmington businessman and Sunday school teacher. He was upset that many of the boys in his class had so much time on their hands and little opportunity. He read a book about boys clubs in Scotland and got the idea to start one in Wilmington. His club was called the Wilmington Boys Brigade. He started out with only 5 boys. The only club requirement was that the boy be a member of a Sunday school class and that he attend the Boys Brigade regularly. In 1990, girls were added to the club and the name changed to The Brigade Boys and Girls Club. There are now over 2,000 members.
