Opening and Saving Images • To open an image, choose File > Open • To save an image you have been working on choose File > Save As
Opening and Saving Images (continued) • File Formats: • PSD is the Photoshop native file format • GIF & JPG are used for Web graphics • TIF is a popular format for print • RAW is a format for digital cameras

Exploring the Photoshop Environment • Window > Workspace > Image Analysis • Many options available for workspaces

Managing Palettes • Palettes are floating windows that provide access to program features
Understanding the Photoshop Toolbox • Tools can be accessed by choosing them from the Toolbox • Hidden tools are located where there is a small triangle on a tool icon
Understanding the Photoshop Toolbox (continued) • Tools can also be accessed by choosing the appropriate key on the keyboard • For instance: • M is for Marquee • L is for Lasso • V is for Move
Moving Around an Image • The Navigator palette helps you zoom in and also see where you are at in an image
Moving Around an Image (continued) • You can zoom in and out of an image by: • - Select Zoom In/Out from View menu • - Command/Control +/- • - Command/Control Spacebar • - Change percentage in lower left corner • - Change scale in Navigator Palette
