  2. ACROSTIC POEM • A poem in which the first letters of each line form a word or message relating to the subject.

  4. HAIKU • A Japanese form of poetry, which gives a brief description of nature. Haiku consists of three unrhymed lines of five, seven and five syllables.

  5. Haiku Poems Confusion is aWalk on the dark side of townWhile you’re all alone. Happy like the sunGiving us light and warmthThat brighten our day.

  6. CINQUAIN • A poetic form invented by Adelaid Crapsey, an American poet. The five lines of the poem contain, in order, two, four, six, eight, and two syllables. Iambic meterprevails.

  7. Line1: One word Line2: Two words Line 3: Three words Line 4: Four words Line 5: One word Dinosaurs Lived once, Long ago, but Only dust and dreams Remain Cinquian

  10. COUPLET • Two successive lines of poetry with end-words that rhyme.

  12. Limerick • type of humorous verse. It consists of 5 lines. The rhyme scheme of most limericks is usually aabba
