Caffeine is addictive. Most people don’t consider caffeine as a drug. But a drugs is medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body. Caffeine does have physiological effect on the brain and is a drug. Surprisingly caffeine is the most commonly used psychoactive drug in the world. If you are someone who says you cant function without a cup of coffee, most likely you are addicted. All though caffeine isn’t the worst drug, you could still get addicted and it could still effect you. If you drink coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks, or eat chocolate on a regular basis you could become addicted. Most people drink caffeine to get energy for the day or have an energy drink for a big game.
Consequences of addiction High doses of caffeine can cause anxiety, dizziness, headaches, and the jitters. It can also interfere with sleep. Caffeine sensitivity is effected by the amount of caffeine a person has daily. People who regularly have caffeine have less sensitivity to it and need more to get the same effect. To much caffeine can lead to a loss of calcium and bone loss. It also can effect some heart deceases. Moderation is key!
