  1. CDMS Web Portal Version 1.0 The standardized role-basedapplication to update statewideHAZUS-MH datasets

  2. Purposes of the Web Portal • Provide a process-oriented approach that will allow users to import and manage HAZUS-MH Level 1 datasets • Increase the user base by requiring only internet access and a minimal amount of software in order to utilize the system. • Provide flexibility and control by providing a role-based system that can clearly define responsibilities among users.

  3. Process Oriented Approach

  4. Update Process • If user has exported an Excel spreadsheet, user makes changes in the data, then saves in .xls format. • If user has exported to Geodatabase, user makes changes to the data in GIS software or Access. • New records can be added at this time as well.

  5. Import Process • Datasets can be imported from: • ESRI Personal Geodatabase File (.mdb) • MS Excel Spreadsheet (.xls) • ESRI Shape File (.shp) • MS Access Database (.mdb)

  6. The Web Portal is a role-based system • Users can be assigned rights to update their area of responsibility, no matter how large or small. • Roles can be defined and assigned by a system administrator. • Specific counties • Specific data layers (fire stations, etc.) • Any combination of the above. A role can even be created for statewide access (all counties and layers) • After roles are created, users are added to the system and assigned to roles.

  7. Recap • The web portal will provide a process-oriented approach that will allow users to import and manage HAZUS-MH Level 1 datasets . • It should increase the user base by requiring only internet access and a minimal amount of software in order to utilize the system. • It will provide flexibility and control by providing a role-based system that can clearly define responsibilities among users.

  8. Potential Future Enhancements • Development of a downloadable desktop program that will allow the Web Portal to update HAZUS study regions and accept import from study regions to the repository. • Employ GIS to provide more graphic-based content.
