  2. Weather & Climate

  3. What are some properties of weather? Temperature, Precipitation, Humidity, Air Pressure. What is Weather? • Weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a given time and place. • Weather is not the same as climate.

  4. Temperature – What is it? • How hot or cold something is. • The degree of hotness or coldness of a substance or the atmosphere as measured by a thermometer.

  5. Precipitation– What is it? • Any form of water that falls from clouds. • Rain • Snow • Sleet • Hail

  6. Humidity – What is it? • Humidity is a measure of how much water vapor is in the air. • Air around you that feels damp and sticky.

  7. Air Pressure – What is it? • Air pressure is the force of air pressure pushing on us and the place you live.

  8. Climate – What is it? • The average weather of an area usually taken over a 30 year period for a particular place and time. Climate is not the same as weather, but rather, it is the average pattern of weather for a particular region. • How much rain an area receives. • Temperatures of area year after year, etc.
