Jesus as Prophet In the OT, prophets were to reveal God’s TRUTH to the people. This included boldly pointing out SIN in their lives. Jesus is the GREATEST of all prophets and more than that He is the FULFILLMENT of everything the prophets spoke of. (Acts 3:18-24) As Prophet in our lives, Jesus boldly speaks the truth and confronts sin, rebellion, and foolishness by rebuking us and calling us to repentance.
Jesus as Priest In the OT, priests were to serve as MEDIATORS between God and men. Jesus is our HIGH Priest and PERFECT mediator. (Heb 4:15-16) As Priest in our lives, Jesus humbly serves us and sympathizes with us in our weakness while giving us the grace and mercy we need.
Jesus as King In the OT, kings were to LEAD God’s people and RULE over them. Jesus is the King of kings who rules over ALLCREATION. (John 18:36-37) As King in our lives, Jesus rules over ever part of our lives. There is nothing that is to be “off limits” to His reign.
How do these roles Jesus perfectly fulfilled affect our lives? • We need to experience and receive the WHOLE of Jesus’ ministry in our lives as prophet, priest, and king. • Jesus’ fulfillment of these offices serve as an example of the MINISTRY we can have as Jesus’ followers in the church
