Partnering for Change, Challenge and Success. The original idea started with area teachers wanting to provide more opportunities for students. The ideas were further discussed by area school superintendents during the 2007-08 school year.

The Global Academy will be a hybrid secondary/post-secondary learning environment designed primarily for high school juniors and seniors from the consortium districts. • The Global Academy will provide specialized and advanced training in areas that culminate in two and four year degrees.
These school districts have formed a consortium to accomplish the following: Goals of the Consortium
Create course offerings and program of studies for specialized and advanced training. Goals
Create a facility to house specialized programs and advanced training. Goals
Partner with business, academic and manufacturing sectors to supply expertise and specific content areas, materials, staff development, staffing, apprenticeship and career placement. Goals
Goals • Pursue flexible instructional delivery models that may be offered in the Global Academy facility, in business/manufacturing settings, or other electronic/dynamic environments.
Goals • Actively and energetically seek partnerships with business, academic and manufacturing sectors in the Dane County Region.
Develop a skill set and mindset that allows for rapid change and adaptation as change occurs on the global scale. Students will
Develop a technological skill set that will serve as a launching pad for any further education, career or career change. Students will
Have individual learning plans to reflect personal interests and passion. Students will
Receive post-secondary credit as well as high school credit. Students will
Engage in relevant/meaningful project-based learning. Students will
Participate in business/industry/research-based apprenticeship/internships and job shadowing. Students will
Retain full access rights to all programs and activities at home school. Students will
The consortium will establish a location for the Global Academy and have in place a program of studies and course offerings in at least one of the career clusters by September 1, 2010.
The Global Academy may be located in a building that the Madison Area Technical College is leasing on the far west side of Madison. MATC West • The building was the former Famous Footwear Headquarters across from the West Town Mall. • The facility is centrally located to serve all consortium districts.
