  4. Jehovah Mekkedeshem • He sanctifies us and makes us holy • Jehovah Nissi • Our banner, our standard, the military strategist • Jehovah Tsidkenu • The one who makes us righteous because He is righteous

  5. Jehovah Shalom – My Peace • Shalom – so much more than peace • To be sound, complete, finished, whole • A sense of well being and contentment • This applies in sickness and in health, in good times and bad, when it feels good, and when it doesn’t • Wholeness, happiness, tranquility, security, preservation, prosperity, safety, quietness of soul – when you feel it, and when you don’t

  6. Shalom is feeling those things even when external circumstances don’t merit it

  7. My man Gideon Judges 6

  8. Their disobedience put them in that place • Does your disobedience ever steal away your peace? • Do we see through our eyes of possibility, or God’s eyes of potency • Mighty man of valor….hiding in a wine press? • Verse 1 through 23 – God trying to convince Gideon to become what he was intended to be • Verse 24, the light finally comes on

  9. Jesus’ role as Shalom • Isaiah 9:6 – Who is Isaiah talking about? • Zechariah recognized it Luke 1:78-79 • Jesus declared it in life (John 14:27) • Jesus declared it after rising from the dead (John 20:19-21) • Peter’s first message to the Gentiles was an offer of peace (Acts 10:36)

  10. Choices • The lump in his neck is growing and we are not sure what it is • They found an aneurism and it could blow any second • The earth is warming, the glaciers are melting, the economy is failing • The bills are coming, but I don’t have the money to pay for it

  11. The Shalom of Jerusalem • Today is set aside as a world wide day of prayer for Jerusalem • Suggestions on how to pray: • For their obedience to God’s Word • That they would believe God at His Word • Eyes to be opened to the truth of Jesus Christ • That as a result of their obedience, they will be given the land God promised them • That peace would come to their homes • Be thankful that we have been grafted in

  12. That their leaders would stand for God and not get caught up in politics • That they should not battle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers of ugliness • That the fullness of the number of the Gentiles would be reached • That the prodigals would return to the Father • That the United States would continue to stand beside them
