Welcome to Lab_13 Irchester Community Primary School!
How Did Irchester Get A Lab_13? • Our Management Committee • The Refit Of The Lab. • Our Vision For The Future
What we did to get Lab_13 Robyn and Thomas made a picture of what they wanted lab_13 to look like in the future.
Year 5 sang a song about forces... And Year 6 did some experiments to show the panel what sort of stuff they want to do in lab_13.
Pitch Izzy and Matt made a PowerPoint that was a jokey job description which they showed to the panel. It included information about how much energy the scientist needed and that they should be good at saving experiments from going wrong! We think Miss Hogan meets up to our expectations!
How was the committee formed? • Four Year 6’s who were key participants in our original pitch make up our Lab_13 Year 6 Management Committee team. • The Year 5’s members then applied and were voted for by their classmates.
What has the committee done so far? • The committee decided the look of our Lab - we all think that it looks great! • We also held the interviews for the Scientist in Residence – we interviewed four applicants but we all knew Miss Hogan was the one for us!
The committee are looking forward to buying lots of resources for our new lab • We will be planning how the lab will be used by all the children in the school • We will be sorting out after school clubs and holiday clubs for the summer break
Before: Here is what the lab used to be like. We used it as a work room where people did tests and group work.
Here was the storage we had and the cupboards where all the art resources were kept. Also, people used to do cooking in here.
Here Mr. Bollard has to fix the table on .We have an octagon shaped table. The table is white and has a secret cupboard on the right side of the table
Painting: Here is Mr. Bollard painting the skirting boards for the lab. We have the lab light blue and the skirting boards dark blue
After? If you want to come and have a look at the finished lab, Please Do!
In the future we hope to have tried lots of exciting experiments that will encourage children to be more imaginative and inventive.
The lab will be a place where children decide what to do and where they can let their imagination run wild. They can do whatever they want as long as its fairly safe.
We also hope that Lab_13 will be a popular, thriving organisation. Furthermore, it will be like the home of science in Northamptonshire!!
