Answer: Establish expectations and give advisors the resources to meet those expectations.

First Steps • Polled advisors regarding available vs. needed training opportunities • Researched nation-wide best practices on academic advising—NACADA, NASPA, etc. • Evaluatedadvisors for before/after comparison to determine if course goals were being met • Created Course Plan focusing on two* of the three crucial parts of academic advising—Conceptual&Relational* • Investigated campus synergies *Informational training provided by Registrar’s office SIS/FERPA/Data Warehouse training, Catalog copy, Academic Senate, College and Departmental Regulations, etc.
