  3. Activity 1 Read And Study The Following Text “Platypus” Many people call platypus duckbill because this animal has a bill like duckbill. Platypus is a native Tasmania and southern and eastern Australia. Platypus has a flat tail and webbed feet. Its body length is 30 to 45 cm and covered with a thick and woolly layer of fur. Its bill is detecting prey and stirring up mud. Platypus’ eyes and head are small. It has no ears but has ability to sense sound and light. Platypus lives in streams, rivers, and lakes. Female platypus usually digs burrows in the streams or river banks. The burrows are blocked with soil to protect it from intruders and flooding. In the other hand, male platypus does not need any burrow to stay.

  6. Activity 4 Read The Following Text And Choose The Right Answer KOMODO DRAGON Do you know what is the largest lizard? This lizard is called komodo. It lives in the scrub and woodland of a few Indonesian islands. Komodo dragon is the world's heaviest lizard, weighing 150 pounds or more. The largest Komodo ever measured was more than 10 feet (3 meters) long and weighed 366 pounds (166 kg) but the average size of komodo in the wild is about 8 feet (2.5 meters) long and 200 pounds (91 kg). Komodo has gray scaly skin, a pointed snout, powerful limbs and a muscular tail. They use their keen sense of smell to locate decaying animal remains from several miles away. They also hunt other lizards as well as large mammals and are sometimes cannibalistic. The Komodo dragon's teeth are almost completely covered by its gums. When it feeds, the gums bleed, creating an ideal culture for virulent bacteria. The bacteria that live in the Komodo dragon's saliva causes septicemia, or blood poisoning, in its victims. A dragon will bite its prey, then follow it until the animal is too weak to carry on. This lizard species is threatened by hunting, loss of prey species and habitat loss.

The information was obtained by distributing questionnaires, interviewing students and observation over a 2-week period. • Findings • - Almost half of all students considered the food on sale in the refectory to be too expensive, especially burgers and pasta, with some 25% complaining that the choice of food was very limited. • - Around a half of all students either brought their own packed lunch to college or went into town during their lunch break and bought food and drink there. • - Nearly all students considered the refectory staff both friendly and helpful. • - A majority of students in the health and social care and services departments would like to see more healthy food on sale in the refectory. • - Engineering and motor vehicle students all complained that the refectory closed too early on days when they had late finishes.

  11. Conclusion Overall, students were satisfied with the food and service provided in the refectory, although there were some issues over choice, cost and opening times. Recommendations The refectory should: 1. reconsider its pricing of burgers and pasta 2. introduce more healthy options on its menu 3. extend its opening hours to meet the needs of certain departments.
