Purpose • To evaluate the behaviour of the Micro AY 123 preloaded IOL system during surgery and to report per-operative and post-operative outcomes in comparison to a previous study with the same lens implanted with a conventional micro-incision injector. ASCRS 2010
Methods • Single centre, one surgeon • Prospective study • 32 eyes implanted with Micro AY • Eyes examined at 1week, 3 months and 12 months • Biaxial phaco: 1.3mm incision, enlarged to 1.7mm for IOL implantation • Endothelial cells count, astigmatism, visual acuity, IOL centration, IOL surface state, anterior segment aspect, posterior capsule aspect and complications • Performance of the micro-incision 123 Premium peloaded system ASCRS 2010
Results Micro AY (PhysIOL) 25% hydrophilic acrylic, 6.15mm optic, 10.75mm overall, aspheric, UV and blue blocker, 360° square edge ASCRS 2010

Preloadedsystem ASCRS 2010
Preloaded system The lens is packed in a micro-incision cartridge. The injector is clipped to the cartridge and removed from the container. After having placed viscoelastic behind the lens, the plunger is advanced slowly. The pressure is slightly higher in the final stage, when the orange silicone cushion stretches in the thinnest part of the injection tip. The lens unfolds gently and is perfectly intact after injection. ASCRS 2010
Experiencewith Micro AY 123 preloaded system • 10 lenses implanted • Same incision size and implantation technique as Micro AY with MicroSet injector (1.7mm) • At 3 months: • 20/20 BCVA • Good lens centration • Good capsular transparency ASCRS 2010
Conclusion Micro-incision lenses • Excellent visual outcomes • Low level of induced astigmatism • Low endothelial cells loss • Good stability over time • Good maintenance of capsular bag transparency over two years • No IOL-related complications Micro-incision preloaded system • A promising alternative for a safer and more reproducible injection ASCRS 2010
