Eight stages of the ETL Testing process Effective ETL testing detects problems with the source data early on—before it's loaded to the info repository — also as inconsistencies or ambiguities in business rules intended to guide data transformation and integration. the method are often weakened into eight stages. ❖Identify business requirements— Design the info model, define business flow, and assess reporting needs supported client expectations. It’s important to start out here therefore the scope of the project is clearly defined, documented, and understood fully by testers. ❖Validate data sources— Perform a knowledge count check and verify that the table and column data type meets specifications of the info model. confirm check keys are in situ and take away duplicate data. If not done correctly, the mixture report might be inaccurate or misleading.

  2. ❖Design test cases— Design ETL mapping scenarios, create SQL scripts, and define transformational rules. it's important to validate the mapping document also , to make sure it contains all of the knowledge . ❖Extract data from source systems— perform ETL tests per business condition. Identify sorts of bugs or defects encounter during testing and make a report. it's important to detect and reproduce any defects, report, fix the bug, resolve, and shut bug report — before continuing to Step 5. ❖Apply transformation logic— Ensure data is malformed to match schema of target data store. Check data threshold, association, and corroborate data flow. This ensures the info type matches the map paper for every column and table. ❖Load data into target warehouse— Perform a record count check before and after data is moved from staging to the info warehouse. Confirm that invalid data is rejected which the default values are accepted. ❖Summary report— Verify explain, option, filter and import functionality of rundown report.
