Definitions Counting/ Numbers {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,…..}Zero is not in this set. It has no negative numbers. There are no numbers with decimals or fractions attached. Whole Numbers{0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,…..} This set has the number 0 and all of the Counting Numbers in it. Integers {-5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,…..} This set consists of the Whole Numbers and their opposites, or, you might say, and their negatives.
Using a Number Line Find the following Numbers on a Number Line. -5 12 0 -9

Opposites Numbers that are the same distance from zero on a number line but in opposite directions are called opposites.
Absolute Value Integers are the whole numbers and their opposites. A number's distance from zero on the number line is called its absolute value. You write the absolute value of 3 as | 3 |.
Absolute Value Use a number line to find | −3 | and | 3 |.
