Warm up 2/12/14 • Question: How do you calculate the speed across a single photogate? • Answer: • v = d/t • d = 1 cm (flag width), t = time A • Goal: I will use a graph to make predictions.
Element of the day • 58 – Cerium – Ce • Cerium is as common as copper and is most commonly found as cerium oxide, which is used as an abrasive for polishing and grinding glass. • Cerium is highly pyrophoric, which means that it can easily catch fire when you scratch or file it. So cerium is used in flints, where it’s alloyed with iron to make it less pyrophoric, and in special effects.
