    2. About Parviz Born in 1937 in Iran Was a painter, sculptor, art historian, and a collector Graduated in 1956 from the College of Fine Arts of Tehran University

    3. Throughout His Life After graduating, he went to Italy to continue his studies in sculpting In the 1960’s Parviz took part in the art movement known as SAQQAKHANA

    4. Recognized For His Work Themes from classical Persian literature influenced Tanavoli He exhibited his work broadly He received commissions from all over the world

    5. His Artwork His works are in a permanent collection in museums such as: Museum of Modern Art, New York Walker Art Center, Minneapolis New York University Art Collection …and many others

    6. Achievements… Tanavoli was the head of the Sculpting Department at Tehran University until 1979

    7. Achievements… He was part of the faculty at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and Hamline University in St Paul Minnesota

    8. Author, Weaver or Sculptor? Parviz has authored at least two dozen publications, dating back over three decades

    9. Retirement? After so many years of weaving, sculpting, painting, and writing, Tanavoli is currently retired

    14. How To Fiber Weave

    15. Step One First, you need to get a piece of cardboard that is big enough for you to weave on.

    16. Step Two Next, you cut slits in the cardboard at least a half an inch apart.

    17. Step Three Thirdly, get yarn and use the under over technique if you are beginning fiber weaving. If you are able to do more advanced techniques, you are welcome to use them at this time.

    18. Step Four You can switch up the weaving techniques and try different ones throughout your fiber weave, keep on weaving until the cardboard is covered up with yarn.

    19. Step Five At this point, you should be finished with your fiber weave. If you would like, you can take off the cardboard, but it is not required in the steps on how to fiber weave.
