Hot water production in Apartman Buildings with the use of SOLAR HOT WATER HEATER
To Start with we had: • Building with central heating. • Row house ,Block house • Heavily populised • Middle of town • Our Task: • Cost Reduction • Energy efficient running • Use of alternative Energie • Good ratio for Clearing of Costs
Regular Industrial type buildings, with the below properties: • During the Government funded Reconstruction Program for Industrial Type Buildings, the energy reconstruction of the building was done. (insulation, casement, heating system) • Due to building regulations, no more emission could be generated at the site, so no possibility for application of gas furnace. • No site for geo-thermical energy use.
The possibilities made the choise obvius: • There is extra room in the Caloric Center • Space for the application of extra equipment • There is apropriate financing in the form of Government Funds or Third Party Financing • Capability of application of Solar Water Heater on the roof.

Result of simulation of Solar System: • The capacity of the Solar System in the summer months ,covers the energy requirement of domestic water production., • Annualy 51,6%-coverage of, energy requirement of domestic water production • Clearing of costs in 3 years (with government funds) Hőigény Szolárhozam Kollektor hőmérséklet
History of the project: • 2006 Dutch Bulgarian Hungarian (Óbuda Autonomy) has made a consortium for the purpose of applying for the Concerto II. fund from the EU. • Óbuda Autonomy has obligated itself to renew an approximately 800-900 flat apartment building made in the industrial technology, The renovation had to lower the energy consumption of the building resulting in cutting of CO2 emission. The use of alternative energy was also obligatory. • 2007 The technical specifications of the application for the Concerto II fund were finished. The use of Solar Water Heater was taken as a course of action for the use of alternative energy. • 2008 Budapest III. district Szőlő street „Village House” is chosen as the object of the project. The building is the largest domestic building in Hungary. 15 stairway 10 floor building which is 315 meters long, it contains 886 apartments and overall more than 3000 residents live here, like a village in Hungary. • 2009 In a government controlled acquisition the executor Épkar Corporation was chosen with the subcontractors.

Technical data that enlighten the size of the project: • Lenght of the building: 338 m. • We used ~5,6 tons of aluminium to mount the panels on the roof • The pipes made by Geberit amount to: ~ 3,6 kilométer • For mounting the aluminium to the roof Müpro fémdűbelek bolts were used • Heat reservoir size: 100 m3 • Large surface Solar Plates: 125 db • Energy produced by the Solar Collectors annually: 1128 MWh • Surface area of Solar Collectors: 1515 m2 • CO2 emission reduction the system generates annually: 243 tons
How does the Solar system connect to the district heating system of the house? • District heating system central. • The Budapest district heating company „FŐTÁV” has modified the district heating caloric center. He has located a new domestic water heating block which connects to the Solar System with high capacity heat exchanger. At the planning stage, we had to size the secondary side of the district heating system central so that in at the proper solar output the domestic hot water supply is made by the solar system. • Online Surveillance. • Beyond the domestic water production our Solar System is equipped with an Online Surveillance and supervision. The Online Surveillance monitors the control points of the caloric center. This monitoring activity can be viewed online on our website (www.okoplanet.hu) The monitoring activity helps us to archive the optimal solar production. The data from the Online Surveillance is open to the owners of the flats. • The result of the cooperation of Távhő incorporation and Ökoplanet ltd. made a Solar System suitable for all district heated apartment buildings. The application of Solar System on domestic heated buildings van help in the reduction of energy consumption and C0, emission.,
