What is Reverse Transfer? In a traditional model, credits are transferred from the 2-year school to the 4-year school. In Reverse Transfer, credits are transferred fromUTEP to EPCC so that students may earn their associate’s degrees from EPCC.
More on Reverse Transfer • SACS guidelines require 25% of credits to be earned at the degree awarding institution • Associate’s Degree of 60 credits = 15 SCH minimum at EPCC in order to award a degree
Prior to Automation • Degree plans were evaluated manually • Manually-derived lists were forwarded to EPCC • EPCC would manually verify degree completion • Associate’s degrees were awarded
Automation Overview • Program EPCC degree plans in CAPP • Run a report each semester to identify students who are eligible to receive degrees from EPCC • Send list to EPCC for awarding of degrees
What is CAPP? • CAPP is a degree audit system within the Banner Student Information System • UTEP has used CAPP on an institutional scale since Fall 2009 • Finalist for the Sungard Performance Award in 2010
Articulate degree plans • Create non-visible programs • Encode CAPP areas to reflect UTEP equivalencies • Encode Texas Core requirements • Account for transfer hour limits • Require minimum hours Programming EPCC Plans in CAPP
Running Batch CAPP Reports • Population selection based on most recent EPCC term and hours transferred • Run SMRBCMP for each EPCC program • Run data analysis to identify students who have completed a program • Email list • UC4 automation
Award of the Associate’s Degrees • Exchange of student information permitted due to joint application • The EPCC Registrar receives our list • The EPCC Registrar confirms candidacy • EPCC contacts students • Degrees are awarded
UTEP Bachelor’s Degrees Awarded to Reverse Transfer Students
