A Three Strand Approach The Must – Do Priorities for Aberdeenshire generally Targeted Effort to Address Specific Communities and Themes of Disadvantage Improving Access To Services, to overcome rural disadvantage and exclusion.

Initial work + Analysis of income deprivation…. • 56% pop. live in settlements of less than 3000 people • 17,111 income deprived (7.3%) • 46% of income deprived pop. live in rural areas • 50% income deprivation in north (Buchan and Banff & Buchan areas) • 50% id. across other 4 areas

Initial findings (2)…. Findings from stakeholders • Transport is the most commonly raised issue in Aberdeenshire • Access to a broad range of services - social, education, health, childcare • Affordable housing, local employment, ageing population, health inequalities • Loneliness and isolation
30 data zones (of 169) with 2 or more sig issues over and above access issues 1 datazone in worst 20%; 3 in worst 40% 5 datazones which perform sig. worse (5 or more indicators) the majority (101) are not sig poor compared to rural average (excl access) Initial findings (3)…. Statistical Analysis of SIMD datazone data compared to “rural” average
