Objective What you will learn? • General Packaging Policy • Identify When a student is Ready for Financial Aid Packaging • Manual Packaging Process • Production Timeline
General Packaging Policy • Financial Aid is awarded as funds are available • Gift aid is awarded before self-help • Federal and state funds are awarded before institutional aid • Merit awards are processed against need first
Is Student Ready for Packaging? A Student Must: • Have filed a valid FAFSA. And show a “Completed” checklist • Incomplete/rejected FAFSAs will need resolution before they can be packaged • Must be in a valid degree or certificate program. FA Term Information will show student’s program and career • If this section is blank, student may be not be accepted into a program or is in a non-degree program and therefore ineligible for financial aid
Is Student Ready for Packaging? • If selected for verification, all paperwork and flags must be complete or waived. • This includes all C-Flags (Citizenship, Selective Service NSLDS, Drug Conviction) • Prior BA Degree conflict
Is Student Ready for Packaging? • Close to Aggregate issues must be resolved and checklists updated • Correct DL and Pell amounts (according to NSLDS) are entered in the Packaging Variables for reference • Note: Students with Aggregate issues are manually packaged and should be forwarded to packaging specialist
Is Student Ready for Packaging? In addition, Returning Students must: • Meet SAP • A status of “Meets SAP” or “Probation” are eligible for aid • “Not Meets” = Not eligible for Aid • Register for upcoming semester • The “Enrollment Detail” link will show if the student has registered, by looking at the actual credits • If no actual enrollment, a Returning student will not be picked up for mass packaging
Is Student Ready for Packaging? • Once all requirements are met: Student’s Package Status will change to “PACKAGE” by the mass packaging selection model • This means student will be automatically selected for packaging by Mass Packaging that week (unless student requires a manual package) • Students will be able to view awards on iSiS Self Service • New students will get an award Letter mailed, Returning students will get an email notification
Manual Packaging Process There are situations when a student will NOT go through the automatic mass packaging process, but instead have a manual package awarded. These situations include: • Students who are only enrolled in one term (Fall only or Spring only) • Students with Aggregate issues (DL and Pell) These cases should be forwarded to the Packaging Specialist for manual awarding *Note: All other packaging requirements must also be met and completed prior to manual packaging
