School of Electronic Engineering Choosing Your Modules • See the ‘Programme Planner’ for 2013/14 Semester 1/2 (next slide). • IMPORTANT NOTES: • Electronic Systems students can choose ANY 8 modules. • Telecoms students MUST take at least 6 modules from the ‘telecoms’ module set plusANY other 2modules • See http://www.dcu.ie/electronics/post/modules/index.shtml for module descriptions and criteria for Majors.

School of Electronic Engineering Registration • Electronic Systems Engineering Programme / Telecommunications Engineering Programme • Register for modules for the current academic year only • Registration should be completed by now. • A late registration fee applies after Wed 11 Sept - Fri 20 Sept 2013; please check the amount with DCU Finance • After Fri 4 Oct, 2013– No registration is allowed (after 2pm) • Registration is YOUR responsibility! School of Electronic Engineering Module Changes • To Change modules - Complete ‘Change of Module Choice Form’ R37 http://www4.dcu.ie/registry/application_forms.shtml • You can change modules between Mon 7 Oct - Fri 11 Oct 2013with no extra charge • You can change modules betweenMon 14 Oct - Fri 18 Oct 2013 against a fee (please check the amount with Registry) • No change allowed after Fri 18 Oct, 2013. • To de-register from a module, complete form R-37. • The change of modules is YOUR responsibility!

School of Electronic Engineering Student Pitfalls According to DCU Regulations: • The four year rule - The maximum time a student may spend on a Masters Programme is 4 years - This includes Qualifier years and deferred years due to work or illness-related issues • The one session repeat rule - A module may be attempted for a maximum of 2 years • There are three different Continuous Assessment categories 1 - resit is available for all components of the module 2 - no resit is available for a 100% CA module 3:- no resit is available for the CA component only
School of Electronic Engineering Deferrals and Absences • To defer an entire academic year, complete a ‘Deferral of Academic Year’ (R-32) form • Unexplained absences from exams result in a FAILED ATTEMPT.
