  1. What is a Tier 3 Data Center?

  2. A tier 3 data center is a location with dual-powered servers, storage, network links and various other IT components. Let us have a look at its several characterstics:

  3. Tier 3 data centers are the most commonly used data center tiers, where IT components are powered with multiple, active and independent sources of power and cooling resources.

  4. It is also known as a level 3 data center and combines features and capabilities of both Tier 1 & Tier 2 data centers.

  5. With the redundant and always active power supply, there is minimum planned and unplanned downtime. It guarantees around 99.982% availability with less than 2 hours of downtime per year.

  6. Tier 3 data center speifications need diesel generators so as to have a minimum of 12 hours of fuel supply as reserves.
