With our hearts full, we announce the launch of the BIRKENSTOCK #BOLD collection. With a focus on men’s workwear sandals, old-world charm, and handcrafting techniques are juxtaposed against modern aesthetics and comfort. What is #BOLD? BIRKENSTOCK #BOLD sees the revival of handcrafted techniques to reconstruct iconic styles, Arizona and Boston. The collection celebrates the essence of the human element in crafting something timeless. Focusing wholeheartedly on menswear, this collection is inspired by the traditional appearance and robust impression of vintage workwear. The classic styles are made using natural aniline leather with natural grain, tanned with vegetable oils and animal fats. The material is meant to improve over time and wear. For the first time ever, the sandals feature a double-prong brass buckle. The straps feature double-rowed eyelets along the entire length and have been widened for more stability and coverage. Originating from workwear and military shoes, the wider belts and double-pronged buckles are designed to be tougher, offer added grip, assume further stress of wear, and prevent twisting. The masculine collection is refined, long-lasting, and tremendously appealing.

2. The Collaborations For this collection, BIRKENSTOCK has collaborated with key craftsmen and curators. The BIRKENSTOCK #BOLD story resonates with curator Takashi Otabe, and master craftsman, James Otter. Takashi believes in bringing authenticity and longevity to any product that he retails at his menswear store in London. For him, any product that you buy must evoke joy and authenticity. His store, Cutch Café in London is all set to launch the beautiful #BOLD range. James Otter is a Cornwall-based master woodworker. He uses age-old techniques and timber to handcraft surfboards. He believes that the essence of a product lies in the human touch. Making something by hand forms a closer bond with nature. We collaborated to create a surfboard, a wooden handmade ‘eagle’, a complete antithesis to, and an aesthetic hard to replicate in mass-produced surfboards. The Collection Arizona Bold: The timeless sandal has been given a robust, old-school spin. Made from aniline leather from Horween, the subtle sheen, the sturdy dual straps with double-rowed eyelets, and double-pronged buckles give the sandal a traditionally masculine look. It features the iconic BIRKENSTOCK footbed and is crafted in roast brown and black.

3. Boston Bold: The classic BIRKENSTOCK clog has been given a traditional workwear sandal interpretation for the collection. The aniline leather from Horween has an understated lustre because of the oil treatment of the material. The broad single strap with dual rowed eyelets and double-pronged buckle enables a custom fit. The anatomically shaped footbed makes the foundation of comfort for the clog. Available in two shades, brown roast and black, this masculine Boston variant is sure to make heads turn.
