  1. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • Matthew 28:20 - "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

  2. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • The revelation of God covers every area of our hearts and our lives! (Heb 4:12-13)

  3. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • (Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV) - For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. {13} And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

  4. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • The challenge we face is our willingness to allow Jesus to rule in every area.

  5. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • The challenge we face is our willingness to allow Jesus to rule in every area. • Too often men will only allow their “religion” to involve certain things. Any other involvement of God’s word is “off limits”.

  6. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • In the area of our dress we face great pressures. (1 John 2:15-16)

  7. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • (1 John 2:15-16 NKJV) - Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. {16} For all that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life; is not of the Father but is of the world.

  8. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • This is a highly personal area in which many are sensitive.

  9. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • This is an area where there is great peer-pressure.

  10. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • This is an area where there is great peer-pressure. • This is also an area that greatly affects our young during a critical time of their lives.

  11. God’s Instruction Touches Every Aspect of Our Lives • I believe as a whole we are losing the battle of teaching future generations about this subject. Will you weigh the evidence?

  12. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • The way we dress should reflect on the character within us. (1 Pet 2:9-10) KJV • “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people that ye should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Who in times past were not a people…”

  13. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • (1 Timothy 2:9-10 KJV) In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; {10} But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

  14. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • Modest - (kosmios) - of good behaviour , well arranged, seemly.

  15. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • Modest - (kosmios) - of good behaviour , well arranged, seemly. • Shamefacedness - (aidos) - perhaps ..through the idea of downcast eyes; a sense of shame or honour, modesty, bashfulness, reverence, regard for others, respect.

  16. • sobriety - (sophrosune) 1) soundness of mind 2) self-control

  17. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • A Godly woman is not to be seeking attention but rather have a meek and quiet spirit. (1 Pet 3:3-4.

  18. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • (1 Peter 3:3-4 NKJV) - Do not let your adornment be merely outward; arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel; {4} rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

  19. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • Our women face tremendous pressures from the world to conform.

  20. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • The modern day women’s movement scorns the Bible teaching of character. Immorality is openly encouraged and praised.

  21. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • The modern day women’s movement scorns the Bible teaching of character. Immorality is openly encouraged and praised. • What does a woman face when she goes against the modern fashion? • What does a man face? He has to be adorned modestly also. Homosexual advances- he does not want to encourage evil thoughts in anyone.

  22. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • God made men and women different therefore you will see emphasis towards women in these areas. Men are very stimulated by sight. (Mt 5:27-30) (Ex. How many “Adult” magazines are toward men?) • Some upswing in attention to pornography by women also, but generally the visual is a bigger challenge for men.

  23. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • (Matthew 5:27-30 NKJV) - “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ {28} “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

  24. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • {29} “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. {30} “And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

  25. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • (Proverbs 7:10 NKJV) And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart. • Attire of a harlot is not nakedness, but alluring and drawing sensual attention to her body. It conceals yet reveals in key areas. Form-fitting, “a peek here and there- that gains attention with the offer of additional sensual pleasure”

  26. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • (Genesis 38:13-15 NKJV) And it was told Tamar, saying, “Look, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.” {14} So she took off her widow’s garments, covered herself with a veil and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place which was on the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given to him as a wife.

  27. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • {15} When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot, because she had covered her face.

  28. The Bible Teaches that We are to Dress Modestly. • We need fathers to take a strong stand in these areas! Do you give in? • Fathers and mothers need to see their daughter in through the eyes of young men. • What are we advertising by what we wear and fail to wear. • What pictures are we putting on Facebook? They are there forever (owned by Facebook). Public sin- www.

  29. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • The Bible has always expected men and women to be ashamed in their nakedness, except within the boundaries of marriage. (Rev 3:17-18)

  30. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Revelation 3:17-18 NKJV) “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’; and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; {18} “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

  31. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • Often the verses are making a spiritual application with the understanding of an underlying principle of the shame of physical nakedness. • Why do we reach for clothes or a cover when someone accidentally walks in on us?

  32. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • Often the verses are making a spiritual application with the understanding of an underlying principle of the shame of physical nakedness. • Shame however is something that can be lost! (Jer 6:15; 8:12)

  33. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Jeremiah 6:15 NKJV) - Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time I punish them, They shall be cast down,” says the LORD.

  34. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Jeremiah 8:12 NKJV) - Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed, Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; In the time of their punishment They shall be cast down,” says the LORD.

  35. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • We are facing a problem in the church where men and women are making judgments on how they feel and not on the word of God! This is a mark of apostasy! Ignoring God’s principals on modesty, dancing, prom, gambling and other issues. Like to do it and I am going to do it. • What is nakedness according to the Bible?

  36. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Gen 2:25) - Adam and Eve were naked when they had no clothes.

  37. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Genesis 2:25 NKJV) And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

  38. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Gen 3:7,10-11) - They were still naked when they made the equivalent of men’s swimming trunks!

  39. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Genesis 3:7 NKJV) - Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

  40. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Genesis 3:10-11 NKJV) - So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” {11} And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”

  41. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Gen 3:21) - They were no longer naked when God made them “tunics of skin”. These are defined as: "generally with sleeves, coming down to the knees" (v. 21; Gesenius, Hebrew & Chaldee Lexicon, 420).

  42. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Genesis 3:21 NKJV) - Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.

  43. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • “God replaced their shorts with garments covering from the shoulders down to the knees to cover the shame of their nakedness.”

  44. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Ex 28:41-42;Isa 47:2-3) - God was very concerned with improper clothing that still left one naked! How much was covered? Look at the passages!

  45. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Exodus 28:41-42 NKJV) - “So you shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him. You shall anoint them, consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests. {42} “And you shall make for them linen trousers to cover their nakedness; they shall reach from the waist to the thighs.

  46. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • (Isaiah 47:2-3 NKJV) - Take the millstones and grind meal. Remove your veil, Take off the skirt, Uncover the thigh, Pass through the rivers. {3} Your nakedness shall be uncovered, Yes, your shame will be seen; I will take vengeance, And I will not arbitrate with a man.”

  47. The Bible Teaches that Nakedness Should Produce Shame in Us. • Have you lost your shame concerning nakedness?
