  1. Authorization to enter into a Contract with LASD for Supplemental Law Enforcement Services for New Year’s Operations Pasadena Police Department Event Planning Section October 22, 2012

LASD Contract Recommendation: • Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for a period of one year, for supplemental law enforcement services for New Year’s operations. • Find the proposed contract is exempt from competitive bidding pursuant to City Charter, Section 1002(H) (contracts with government entities or their contractors); • Grant the proposed contract an exemption from the competitive selection process of the Competitive Bidding and Purchasing Ordinance pursuant to Pasadena Municipal Code, Section 4.08.049(A)(3), contracts with other government entities.

  3. LASD Contract The LASD Contract will provide: • Necessary personnel to supplement the city’s police department with direction of traffic control and security/public safety during New Year’s operations. • Personnel who are specifically trained in traffic direction, crowd control and facility security. • A reliable option for supplemental law enforcement services when additional resources are needed.
