2. International Research and Training Institute of BarzegarZenouz (BZRT) Goals : Developing software and hardware to synthesize surfactant based products, research and innovation in these areas, training and raise quality level of products. Dr. Moharram Barzegar Zenouz 1997

Innovations has been done: 1) Chemicals to collect and remove films from the surface of stagnant water 2)Oil dispersant 3)Method for reducing water hardness through coalescence using polyethylene scrap 4)Isolating a group of oil assimilating bacteria to decrease oil contamination 5)Anti spatter 501 for easy removal of welding chips 6)Reducing water conductivity with surfactants

5. Introducing Surfactant The term 'surfactant' is an abbreviation of "surface active agent". Surfactants are generally organic compounds, containing both hydrophobic groups at tails and hydrophilic groups at heads. Therefore, they are soluble in both organic solvents and water and also they reduce surface tension of water by absorbing at the liquid- gas interface and they reduce the interfacial tension between oil and water by absorbing at the liquid-liquid interface.

6. Many surfactants can also aggregate in to a micelle, When micelles form, their tails form an oil droplet shape, and their (ionic/polar) heads form an outer shell that maintains favorable contact with water. According to molecular structure of surfactant, environmental solution and other condition they have different shape. Surfactants play an important role in many products with different applications, such as Detergents, Demulsifiers, Emulsifiers, Emulsions, Inks, Wetting agent, Polymers, Foaming agents,…. Surfactants are also often classified into four primary groups; anionic, cationic, non-ionic, and amphoteric.

Surfactant Research Center • Synthesis surfactant for medical and biological applications(different project in this field have been defined and are in progress) • The Surfactant Research Center has been officially certified by Iranian ministry of science, research and technology activities for 2 purpose: • Synthesis surfactant for scientific and industrial applications

The following laboratories have been established: 1-Water, NANO, Environment 2- Detergent Energy& 3-Oil 4-Drug & Biotechnology 5-Food & Agriculture 6- Accredited Laboratory of Surfactant Analysis Also ISO IEC 17025 standard is implementing for doing surfactant tests. To pursue research projects, the center has established relationship with other internal and local external research centers is of high important. Iranian and international research center. BZRT has employed qualified personnel's, experienced board of authors (about 20 person having Master degrees from Tehran, Sharif, TarbiatModarres Universities etc.) and some consultants for meeting its goals. All projects are sampled in research centre at first, after conformation, it will be produced in pilot scales specification was registered and procedure method is delivered to production section.

9. Accredited Laboratory for Water & Waste Water analysis The most important goal of this lab is to provide satisfaction to customers by performing accurate precise tests on their samples. Establishment of ISO IEC 17025 is implementing in this regard. All departments are managed by universities graduates and all of tests are done by educated experts.

Cleaner ( General Cleaner / BZP - 001 , Poly Clean / BZP - 002 , Oil Clean / BZP - 004 ) • Application method • Depend on pollution intensity of the polluted places different type of our cleaners could be applied, through spraying or jet splash after dilution by water. • In cases of needing higher cleanness levels, a prior washing by hot water is necessary

16. Demulsifiers BZP-009 (BZP – 009) Application There are three means to remove water from oil emulsion; Using chemicals, applying heat and electrical field. Demulsifier is a chemical that is applied to treat the emulsions and cause water dropout. By applying the chemical, it goes to the oil/water interface, reacting with or displacing the emulsifying agent and weakening the film at the interface, it makes water droplets formation very fast. Application method According to the performance tests, the consumption dosage of demulsifiers BZP-009 depend on the type of the emulsion and its stability, ranging from 50-250ppm

17. Anti Spatter(BZP – 003 ) Anti spatter ( BZP- 003 ) is a surfactant based on chemicals which was invented by B. Z. R.T in 2007 and registered in Registration Office for Company & Non Commercial Institute . Anti Spatter )BZP – 003 ( Application Anti spatter ( BZP- 003 ) was developed to decrease pollution of welding chips, and at the same time increase the quality of welding surface, saving time and cost. By spraying BZP-003 onto the welding surface the welding chips will not stick to the welding piece. Application method: Spray or apply BZP-003 onto the welding surface prior to welding operation.

Oil remover chemical ( BZP-121,122) This product has been invented and registered by Research Institute of BarzegarZenouz in 2004 and registered in Registration Office for Company & Non Commercial Institute. Free of benzene, chlorinated hydrocarbons, phenol, caustic alkali and free mineral acids, and heavy metals in trace amount.

20. Oil remover chemical ( BZP-121,122) Application This product can be used for removal of oil contamination. These substances are usually used when the oil surface on water is less than 1mm of thickness. According to the mechanism of decreasing surface tension and increasing layer thickness(layer thickness lower than 1mm) it can not be separated by skimmer easily, then this product can be used. Method of application Depend on intensity of pollution two methods can be used, Spray or Drop method. Whenever the pollution is high or it is vast we use spray method, and when it is small amounts you should use drop method. This product acts on surface of water and accompanied with polluted materials to remove pollutants from water by skimmer. The dosage of this product is 1/20 oil layer thickness scatters on water surface.

Skimmer BZP-010 The mechanical method for removing oil pollution from the surface of waters is composed of a boom which controls and pushes the pollution to predetermined place, then pollution removal will be performed by a skimmer. Production & Manufacturing BZRT is honored to be a research center that could manufacture vast production of 50% of its registered Innovations. our qualified staffs, and the following facilities have been provided for production and manufacturing purposes: Area: 1750m2 Machinery & producing equipments. Whole package of distillation tower with auxiliary equipments fully constructed of SS316- -Whole package of distillation tower with auxiliary equipments constructed of carbon steel - SS 316 high pressure chemical reactor - Whole package for heating system of hot oil - Whole Package for cooling system - Back up for electric current Capacity of Production: 3 tones a day

29. Training Center: This center is provide programs for educational need assessment, planning and performing of training for institute personnel and other customers. The masters are the best in Iran (from Sharif, Tehran, TarbiatModarres universities, … ) that are members of board of trustees, foreign masters and employees with a B.S degree also working in this research center. Two kinds of courses are thought in the center: some of them are specialty in surfactants and their applications in different industries and some are general courses. Journal of Surfactants is published in training center and establishment of Surfactant society is in progress.

30. Training Tourism and Entertainment of Selected Elite Co. Foundation: 2008 Along with research facilities, organizing entertainment activities of club members is concentrated in Training, Tourism and Entertainment of Selected Elite Co. Club members are: Researchers, university staffs, related industrial managers, academic board members, responsible of Institute and elite students. There are different kinds of craft courses such as Music, Calligraphy, Pottery, …, Buffet, restaurant and arbor in about 500 m2 building located in a park like area about 20/000 m2 .
