As we get older, our summers look different and time just slips by. We stow the simple memories, and trade trips to the local beach with “Trips to Europe, that’s what the kids want!” (Dirty Dancing). Trips to Europe, that’s what the kids want! As we get older, our summers look different and time just slips by. We stow the simple memories, and trade trips to the local beach with “Trips to Europe, that’s what the kids want!” (Dirty Dancing). But perhaps that’s what the kids think they want? When I look back on my childhood summer memories, it was always the simple things that I cherish the most. Ask yourself- when you look back at your summer memories this year and get choked up a bit, will they be tears of joy or tears of remorse for knowing that you could have done more—could have been more present in what you had right in front of you?
