  3. Who we are Part of HQIP’s aim is to support clinicians and organisations in providing high quality care using best practice in clinical audit and quality improvement. Giving this support is a small dedicated quality improvement and development team (QIDT).

  4. Who we are cont. • National Lead for Quality and Development • 2 Quality Improvement and Development Facilitators • Public and Patient Development Lead • Quality and Development Officer • Social Care project manager

  5. What we do • Act as a single point of contact within HQIP for staff in healthcare organisations for advice on local clinical audit issues. • Provide support for regional clinical audit networks • Develop and maintain a library of resources, including tools and guidance, and e-learning to help local teams deliver high quality clinical audit and QI methods. • Run events in support of this guidance and other development topics, including the annual clinical audit conference

  6. What we do cont. • Manage the National Clinical Audit Forum (NCAF) - a tool for clinical audit professionals, clinicians and managers to share best practice examples and provide and seek advice about clinical audit. • Work alongside other specialist providers in the field of clinical audit and quality improvement. • Lead on Public and Patient Engagement in this field • Developing and extending practice with community providers and social care

Summary Clinical audit is a tried and tested way of driving improvements in clinical services There are strong national and local drivers which require trusts to have the systems, processes and support in place to create the environment where these duties and needs can be fulfilled. Commissioners, patients and the public want to know that their local trust provides good quality services, and clinical audit can provide the evidence All healthcare professionals need to evidence that the care they give and services they provide are safe and effective and that all patients and service users have the best possible experience
