  1. Guide to Electronics Day 2

  2. After attending Day 1’s course, you should be more or less familiar with some of the components and their functions. • But most importantly, you should be clear on the completion of a closed circuit. Day 2 – Learning the Intermediate

  3. You can program the Arduino to take inputs, respond, and send outputs back. • Uses modified C (note: not C++, predecessor of C++) • We shall now teach you how to program, it’s really simple! Programming

  4. Logic. • Wiring is NOT so easy, especially when it gets complex, with many chips, hundreds of wires, and lots of datasheets • You need to think through, which wire goes where and then what happens when it goes there • How is it going to work and how to make it work Wiring Logic

  5. Datasheet – A document that describes the electrical component in detail • Interpretation – How to read it • Page by page (Do NOT skip anything, it might result in catastrophic failure, ie, shorting, and burning) • Find your chip model number, search it up • Use you chip number, size, pin, and shape to find the appropriate description • Datasheet symbols (demo) Data Sheet Interpretation

  6. Please move forward while we carry on with our demonstration on: • “Applications of wiring logic” • “Data Sheet Interpretation” • “Wonders of Programming” Demonstration

  7. Now, you will be given some time to carry out your own exploration with the building blocks. • Building blocks are found at the side bench. • Please approach us if you have any queries, and try using different combinations to create a gadget on your own. • This might be useful as an inspiration for what you might want to do for your presentation on Day 5. Try it yourself!

  8. Any questions? Thank you.

  9. Your electronic must always be a closed circuit for it to work. • The L.E.D will have different light, please test it out to see which is the colour you would want. • If your L.E.D does not light up, please do not throw it away. It might be IR, which you cannot see, so bring it to us as we have IR receiver diodes which can detect IR. • Please bring your laptop for tomorrow’s lesson! Notes
