First 5 LA PCIT Project Background • In February, 2011, First 5 LA approved a 20 million allocation to develop Parent Child Interactive Therapy projects throughout Los Angeles County over a five year time period. • This allocation was approved to support the organizational goal of Children are Safe from Abuse & Neglect as identified in the FY 2009-2015 Strategic Plan. • The Parent Child Interaction Therapy Project (PCIT) is designed to expand access to clinical support for children with serious behavior problems and their parents. Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidenced-based therapy that has been successfully used to help young children ages two to seven years old with serious behavior problems like aggressiveness, defiance, temper tantrums and oppositional behavior. • This RFQ is solely for the implementation of the training component
Project Description: Tasks of Project • Task 1: Review Background Data on the Availability of PCIT Therapy in LA County • Task 2: Coordinate with First 5 LA and LACDMH • Task 3: Develop a Phase I Training Plan and Curriculum • Task 4: Execute Phase I Training Plan • Task 5: Develop Phase II Training Plan • Task 6: Execute Phase II Training Plan • Task 7: Provide quarterly implementation reports • Task 8: Prepare an evaluation report annually
Additional Project Requirements • Incorporate an evaluation plan to measure how the impact and effectiveness of training program
Eligibility Requirements • Proposals will be considered from applicants that are not-for-profit and/or public or private organizations • Applicants must have the qualifications, experience, and ability to successfully carry out the PCIT project. The ideal applicant(s) will be familiar with and have extensive experience in training mental health professionals, specifically in PCIT therapy. Experience in Los Angeles County and California is preferable, but not mandatory.
Contract Period • Training Contractor contract will not exceed $3 million over 5 years • The award can be used to cover costs associated with training existing PCIT providers : • Direct personnel costs and any other subcontracts needed for the implementation of this project • Indirect administrative costs, which are not allowed to exceed 10% of personnel costs
