Literature Development Infographic We are here
Project Background • Interest in a new daily meditation book came to light in the 2016 CAR survey • In 2017, the Board surveyed the Fellowship to get clarity about our vision. The project plan reflects our responses. • Set it up like Just for Today (quotation, elaboration, reflection) • Explore a spiritual principle each day, repeating principles as needed • Draw quotations from any piece of NA literature
A Project is Born WSC 2018 approved the project plan, a workgroup has been formed, and we’ll be generating some material for them to work with
Advance Material • Members’ contributions have a profound effect on a piece of literature • Submit advance material in any language • The workgroup will process what’s submitted • identifying key ideas, concepts, & themes • flagging gems – a turn of phrase or personal experience • Some input may be used as-is, others may be woven together with writing submitted by other members
Getting ready to writeDon’t skimp on this important step! • Get your ideas flowing with a conversation. Don’t worry about putting your thoughts on paper until after we take time to talk. • Facilitators: Please get everyone involved in the discussion & keep an eye on the 10-minute timer to the left. • Procedure: • Pass out the quotations and take turns reading them aloud • Discuss: What resonates with your understanding and experience? • Questions? • Click the mouse to start the timer.
Time to write! • Write alone or with a partner, on paper or online via www.na.org/spad • One quotation per writer/writing pair • Write • It’s just sharing on paper • Focus on communicating ideas, not writing poetry • Just write—the water doesn’t flow until the faucet is turned on Click the mouse to start the 10-minute timer
Show & tell Take turns reading what you wrote to your group
“A member shared…” Can we get a few volunteers to read what you or another group member wrote?
Thanks for playing. We’ll collect all of our writing & send it in. What’s next? Visit www.na.org/spad to stay in-the-know.
