  3. What is the Internet?

  4. The Internet is a network of computers that can share information around the world.

  5. The Internet works using wires or cables, and signals sent through the air or space.

  6. What is the Web? “The Web” is short for the “World Wide Web”.

  7. The Web is a growing set of documents (websites or web pages) that are connected to each other using the Internet.

  8. The connected documents are called Web Sites.

  10. Finding Websites • You need to have a computer that is turned on and connected to the Internet. • You need a web browser like Internet Explorer Firefox Safari Google Chrome

  11. Web Browsers • Web browsers are programs that help you find and look at web sites. • Internet Explorer comes with Windows operating systems. • Safari comes with Mac (Apple) operating systems. • You can download other browsers for free.
