FAENZA ENJOYS A FINE LOCATION AND EVOCATIVE AGRARIAN SURROUNDINGS:
CULTIVATED LAND WITH TRACES OF THE ANCIENT ROMAN LAND-DIVISION SYSTEM,
ACTUALLY, FAENZA'S GLORY IS THE ART OF MAJOLICA, KNOWN, FROM THE NAME OF THE TOWN, AS “FAIENCE”.
A TYPICAL EXAMPLE OF FAENZA MAJOLICA IS THE SO-CALLED “GAROFANO” (=CARNATION) STYLE.

ITS NAME IS “MIC”, WHICH MEANS INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF CERAMICS.
IT INCLUDES PIECES DATING BACK TO DIFFERENT HISTORICAL PERIODS, FROM ANCIENT GREECE
FAENZA'S ARCHITECTURAL ATTRACTIONS ARE CONCENTRATED IN THE TWO MAIN SQUARES IN THE CITY CENTRE:
THE TOWN HALL, OF MEDIAEVAL ORIGIN, STANDS IN PIAZZA DEL POPOLO.
ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF PIAZZA DELLA LIBERTA', THERE IS THE CATHEDRAL.
INFLUENCED BY THE TUSCAN STYLE, IT IS ONE OF THE BEST EXPRESSIONS OF RENAISSANCE ART IN THIS AREA.
ITS CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED IN 1511, EVEN IF ITS MARBLE FRONT REMAINED UNFINISHED.
THIS IS THE CHAPEL DEDICATED TO THE HOLY VIRGIN MARY PATRON OF THE TOWN.
NEAR THE CATHEDRAL, THERE IS THE MONUMENTAL FOUNTAIN, WHOSE BRONZES DATE TO THE 17th CENTURY.
THE CLOCK TOWER IN THE SQUARE IS A POSTWAR REBUILDING OF THE ORIGINAL 17th CENTURY TOWER.
IN THE CITY CENTRE, THERE IS “PALAZZO MILZETTI”, WHICH IS THE RICHEST AND MOST SIGNIFICANT NEOCLASSICAL BUILDING IN THE REGION.
“PALIO DEL NIBALLO” IS A HORSE RACE HELD EVERY YEAR IN JUNE.
THE 'PALIO' IS THE SILK BANNER WHICH IS AWARDED TO THE WINNER OF THE RACE.
IN JUNE THE TOWN IS DECORATED WITH EMBLEMS AND FLAGS OF 5 DIFFERENT COLOURS, CORRESPONDING TO THE AREAS IN WHICH FAENZA IS DIVIDED.
IN JUNE THE 5 AREAS, AFTER PARADING IN MEDIEVAL COSTUMES ALONG THE STREETS OF THE TOWN, CHALLENGE EACH OTHER IN A TOURNAMENT OF FLAGS
