Declarative • A declarative sentence makes a statement. • This type of sentence ends with a period. • My name is Janiece Wilbanks. • I like to read. • I have a dog. • School is fun.
Interrogative • An interrogative sentence asks a question. • This type of sentence ends with a question mark. • What is your name? • Do you like to read? • Do you have any pets? • Where do you go to school?
Exclamatory • An exclamatory sentence shows a strong feeling. • This type of sentence ends with an exclamation point. • The monster is attacking me! • I love school! • We just won our game! • Wow, that was a fun ride!
Imperative • A declarative sentence gives a command. • This type of sentence can end with a period or exclamation point. • Close that door! • Go get your coat. • Please, leave that on my desk. • Walk down the hallway.
