Homework • Monday-Thursday, one hour per night • Math • Writing, Science, or Social Studies • Spelling All homework will be written down in student agendas and recorded on our class website.
Tests/Quizzes • Report Card grades are based on frequent classroom assessments. • Reading: every Friday • Math: about every two weeks • Spelling: every Friday • Science and Social Studies: at the end of each chapter • Writing assessments • DMR and DLR
Grading • Grades are based on the accumulation of points. • Points are based on: • Quizzes and tests • Completion of assignments (in class and homework) • Classroom participation (effort) • Grades are frequently updated and accessible via the class website. • Conferences are on an as-needed basis
Supplies/Donations • $20 supply fee • White boards • Chalk pastels for each student • Copy paper • Scholastic News (weekly current event newspaper for students) • Website fees (weekly newsletters/updates)
Supplies • I highly recommend that you purchase the following items for your child to use during the 2012-2013 academic year: (If you are not able to afford these, please let me know ASAP and we will work it out) • Backpack– a must! • 3-Ring Binder- 2” or larger (one for general use) – a must! • 5 or more dividers • Pencils(a long–lasting supply. If mechanical, must have an endless supply of replacement lead) – a must! • 2 or more Dry-Erase Pens for student use(at least two 2 black, others could be of various colors – used for white boards) – a must! • 2 Pocket Folders(for homework & for handouts/flyers) – a must! • Writer’s Journal(a one-subject notebook, lined or not, specially chosen by the student for personal writing) • 2 Single Subject Spiral Notebooks(for science and math) • College-Ruled Line Paper(with three holes-long lasting suupply) • Highlighter • box of tissue
