Reasons why working with digital devices/artificial light is bad for your overall health
Session 1 - Blue Light Side Effects Welcome To BluTech It seems everyone is staring at their computer screen, phone, or other digital devices these days; and it's not only affecting your eyes but also the different parts of the body! In this session, we will tell you about how an extreme use of electronic devices can affect your health. Let's just start the sessions…..
01.Effects of blue light on sleep • 02. Blue Light And Our Eyes • 03. Blue Light And Our Brains • 04. Effects of blue light on skin In this session we will cover the followings points
Blue Light And Our Eyes Practically all noticeable blue light passes through the cornea and lens and reaches the retina. This light may affect vision and could prematurely age the eyes. Early research demonstrates that an excessive amount of exposure to blue light could prompt - 1. Digital eye strain 2. Retina damage It's not clear yet how much blue light presentation is sufficient to make enduring mischief our vision, yet it could be contributing to macular degeneration (loss of central vision), a condition regularly connected with advancing age.
Effects of blue light on sleep The blue light that’s emitted from digital devices can delay the release of sleep-inducing melatonin, increase attentiveness, and reset the body’s internal clock (or circadian rhythm) to a later schedule. This is a big problem for teens or who like to work on a night because there circadian rhythms are already shifting naturally, causing them to feel awake later at night — the result: it's given a mini case of jet lag. Artificial Blue Light is so problematic these days, and the reason is it has a short wavelength that affects levels of melatonin more than any other wavelength does. Not only digital devices emit the blue Light but also Light from fluorescent bulbs and LED lights can produce the same effect. And less sleep will affect your mood, as well.
Blue Light And Our Brain & Health Last year, the U.S. National Toxicology Program convened a 2-day workshop to explore mounting research linking exposure to artificial light at night not just to sleep problems, but also to weight gain, depression, cancer, and heart disease. Research is young, but some studies suggest that chronic exposure to excess light at night may also fuel cancer, in part by lowering the levels of melatonin -- a known anti-cancer agent -- circulating in the blood. Female night shift workers have a 50% to 70% greater chance of developing breast cancer during their lifetime, says David Blask, MD, associate director of the Tulane University Center for Circadian Biology. Effects of blue light on skin Nowadays, Blue light is one of the trending topics when you discuss health. Blue light affects not only your eyes, sleep but also our skin, as all the electronic devices emit harmful blue light. Now you must be thinking, "what are the side effects of overexposure of blue light on your skin? "The answer is right here-The overexposure can cause skin damage like color changes, inflammation, ache, and weakening of the skin's surface. Moreover, blue light promotes stressors in the skin that cause photo-aging; that means, aging from exposure to light.
The largest source of blue light is sunlight. In addition, there are many other sources: • 1. Fluorescent light • 2. CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs • 3. LED light • 4. Flat screen LED televisions • 5. Computer monitors, smart phones, and tablet screens
In our next session, we will let you know the prevention of blue light for your overall health.
