  3. Students must plan for both grade 11 and 12 to ensure that they have: • All courses required for graduation • The admission requirements for post secondary or the required skills to gain employment • Two plans for the future and a program that leads to both

  5. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS TOTAL 80 credits

  6. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS To Graduate Students Need: • eighty credits in Grade 10-12 (equivalent to 20 four credit courses). This includes Required Courses, Graduation Transition Plan, and Elective Courses. • five Graduation Program Exams English 10, Math 10, Science 10 Social Studies 11 English 12 or Communications 12 • a minimum of 4 courses (16 credits) at the Grade 12 level including English 12 or Communications 12

  7. EXTRA CREDITS • Royal Conservatory of Music • External Language Assessment • Language Challenge Exam • Athletics, Coaches, and Officials Programs • Life Saving – Bronze Cross • First Aid • Cadet Courses – Air, Army or Sea • Driver Education • Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

  9. SECOND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS • A second language is NOT required for graduation • A second language is required for university entrance

  10. Four ways to get a second language: • Language 9, 10, 11 UBC requires a Language 11 UBC Arts recommends a Language 12 SFU requires a Beginners Language 11 • Beginners Language 11 (Gr. 9 and 10) plus Language 11 • Language Challenge Exam ( UBC will not use this exam in their admission averages for approved grade 12 courses) • Community College (University Transfer) may have to complete a second language at college depending on your future course of studies

  11. FNA or ASK 10, 11 or 12 • Students complete one 4 credit course in either Fine Arts or Applied Skills in Grade 10 or 11 or 12

PLANNING 10 • This is a required 4 credits for graduation • Students will take a 2 credit Planning 10 combined with an elective course in grade 10 • The remaining 2 credits will be completed through Conference days in grade 10, 11 and 12. • Requirements of the course will include: • Graduation Program • Education and Careers • Health • Finances

Long-term Personal Healthy Living Plan • Community Connections 1. 30 Hours of work experience or community service 2. Reflect on Work/Community Experience • Career and Life 1. Develop a Comprehensive Transition Plan 2. Present selected components of the Transition Plan

Grade 12 BC Achievement Scholarships A student will receive $1250 if he or she: Achieves at least a “B” final mark (exam and school mark) in English 12, Communications 12 or English 12 First Peoples and ranks among the top 3000 grade 12 students in BC (based on their average of grade 10, 11, and 12 courses)

  44. FAILS AND INCOMPLETES(Academic Course Results) INCOMPLETE (40 TO 49%) • go to Summer School to complete the course • 4 weeks in July • 1 ½ hours per day per course • in the AM. • Can take 1 or 2 courses The incomplete grade is changed in August to a PASS or FAIL

  45. FAILS (0 to 39%) All compulsory courses must be repeated if failed (English, Socials, Math, Science, PE) Example: If you fail Math 10, take Math 10 in first semester of grade 11 and then take Math 11 in second semester.
