Partnered AHPS Flood Mapping Target Goal for Web Interface • Information to make risk based decisions • Easy product access • Visually oriented products • Link to other AHPS Products • Flood severity categories: minor, moderate, and majorflooding • FEMA 1%, 0.2% Annual Chance Flood Maps • Flood Depth Grids, Floodway • KML and Shapefile Downloads
Partnering to Reduce Costs and Improve Efficiency Costs go down Efficiency goes up • Additional cost to complete one inundation map library as part of a detailed FEMA FIS: 5 – 10 K • Cost doubles and time increases if inundation map library is created after the FIS is completed: 10 – 20 K • Developing inundation libraries in conjunction with the detailed FIS yields significant user benefit for small incremental cost. • AHPS Web Implementation: ~7 K
SR AHPSFlood Maps in Development • FY2010 Deliverables • VICT2 - Guadalupe River in Victoria, TX ( CRP and WGRFC ) • DUPT2 - Guadalupe River in Bloomington, TX ( CRP and WGRFC ) • CART2 - Elm Fork Trinity at Carrollton, TX ( FWD and WGRFC ) • HOLL1 - Tickfaw River in Holden, LA ( LIX and LMRFC ) • SEGT2 - Guadalupe River at Seguin, TX ( EWX and WGRFC ) • TODA1- Black Warrior River at Tuscaloosa, AL(Oliver L&D) ( BMX and SERFC ) • SHEA1 -Aldridge Creek on Sherwood Dr in Huntsville , AL ( HUN and LMRFC )

SR Flood Mapping Prospects Southeast RT Inundation Flood Mapping - USGS Georgia Science Center, FEMA Region IV, USACE (Mobile) - Last meeting in Georgia on October 29th. - SERFC is working with USGS Georgia to scope flood mapping projects in Georgia. LMRFC Flood Visualization - Study entitled “Visual Analytics for Assessment and Interpretation of Simulated River Flooding” with Mississippi State University. - LMRFC is working with MSU Develop visual analytics tools to enable scientists and forecasters to better interpret and distribute hydrologic information and for emergency managers to better visualize areas to be impacted by flooding to support decisions on evacuations. WGRFC/IWBC - WGRFC have coordinated with IWBC on the possibility of developing flood maps on the Rio Grande to support IWBC, Border Patrol, and DHS needs.
