Role of KBRI and Diplomacy (2) Diplomacy (with guidance and instruction from capital/related ministries) • Negotiations, through formal and informal meeting • Conference, Council, Committee (FAO) • Governing Board, Executive Board, Committee (IFAD and WFP) • Grouping, regional group (Asia group), G77 • Consultations/brainstormings (Secretariat of FAO, IFAD, WFP and other related International Organization as well as International NGOs) • Lobby/approach to seek common positions or to influence for the seek of support (to other members)

  10. Global issues in 3 Rome based Agencies: FOOD SECURITY Food Security in alert, i.e.: • Famine in Horn of Africa, North Africa, • Flooding in some Asian countries • Food Price Volatility • Food and Climate related issues

Food Security in Indonesia Indonesia has strong capital base in food security • Land resources: soil fertility, soil availability • Genetic resources and utilization: Mega-biodiversity, Staple food, Plantation crops, Livestock, microorganisms  food diversification • Water resources and management: Tropical rain forest • Human resources: Research Institutions in Agriculture, Universities, Skilled workers, experiences  How do these become a powerful tools to combat poverty and food insecurity?
