  2. Fireflies are also called lighting bugs. There are rare, small, and large fireflies. • Native Americans in the tropics used large fireflies as glow in the dark jewelry. • From what we have learn from the fireflies light we have glow sticks to see in the dark.

  3. ire • There is near a couple thousand species of them on Earth. Small fireflies are a little different from older fireflies. Because younger fireflies make patches of light in the grass. • Baby fireflies hatch from eggs hidden in the soil. • Baby fireflies light up to attract insects like mosquitoes, for food. • The light of fireflies come from their abdomen, inside of a type of cell called photocytes. They have two chemicals that make light named luciferin and luciferase.

  4. Fireflies aren’t a fly of any kind, it’s actually a beetle • The fireflies light is for telling a male that there's a female and its ready to mate. They keep flashing each other until the mate is there and they mate. • Most grown fireflies live about three weeks.

  5. Fireflies are regularly seen at spring and summer. People there are amazing, some people call them little blinkers. • The fireflies light gives off no heat.

Folklores • In Europe, they believe that someone will soon die if a firefly will get in their house • In Japan, they think fireflies are good because it is like spirit of their soldiers • In Mediterranean, the light is thought to come from the graves. • In north America, a glow worm on the path signals success.
