Types of Note Cards • summary or précis • paraphrase • outline (formal or informal) • direct quotation • partial quotation • combination of any of the above (Be specific.)
Note Cards: Common Errors • Students incorrectly label the note cards. For example, some students label cards as précis notes, but they enclose the note in quotation marks. Other students label cards as quotation notes, but they neglect to enclose the note in quotation marks.

Note Cards: Common Error • Many students label cards as partial quotations, but, in reality, they are combination cards. (Partial quotations exist when you quote only a part of a sentence.)
