  2. Agenda • What will you find on GeorgiaStandards.Org (GSO)? • What can you do with the new Web tools?

  3. Disintermediation Disintermediation is the idea that as technology becomes more advanced, users will no longer require assistance to use it.

  4. The development of the Internet has revealed a very different story. As the Web becomes more complex, users need more help to find what they want.

  5. The purpose of GLC was to be the ‘middle man’ and help teachers find educational materials and resources. The same is true with the new GeorgiaStandards.org website.

  6. Statistics from GLC • More than 5,000,000 unique visitors this year • 16,807 registered users • Used internationally as well as across America

  7. Time for Change • GLC has served its purpose; however, with the development of the GPS, it is time to update the website. • GLC will continue to be active as we develop the new site; although, new lesson plans and other materials will not be added to the old site.

GOAL: • To provide a dynamic, interactive, online resource that will enhance and support teaching and learning in Georgia with the Georgia Performance Standards as the main focus. • Georgia teachers are committed to meeting the educational needs of their students and increasing student achievement. GeorgiaStandards.Org will provide the resources necessary for teachers to accomplish their goals. • A One Stop Shop for Educators!

  20. Here is how a Standards-based Unit Design Builder meets the needs of Georgia educators. Versatile Generic language to accommodate UBD, Learning Focused Schools, Backward Design and other frameworks Custom Built for Georgia Educators

  21. Log in to MyGaDOE Portal to access the builder. If you do not have a username and password – click on the sign-in link.

  22. Educators can easily and effectively use the Builder to develop Unit Blueprints/Frameworks

  23. Educators can expand upon Unit Blueprints by adding components to facilitate implementation in the classroom: • Teaching Activities • Performance Tasks • Assessments for Learning

  24. Functionality includes the ability to upload almost any type of file: • PowerPoint presentations, • Spreadsheets, • Essay prompts, Graphic organizers, • Rubrics, Quizzes, • Video clips, and more

  26. “We have developed a number of sample performance tasks that we would like to make available for teachers to use. We have even developed some assessment rubrics to go with the tasks and have gathered examples of student work that demonstrates proficiency. Can we use the new Builder to showcase these sample tasks and examples of student work? Can we assign these tasks to existing Unit Frameworks?”
