Basic Responsibilities of Nonprofit Boards (BoardSource Board Assessment Categories) • Determine the organization’s mission and purpose. • Engage in strategic thinking and planning to achieve the mission. • Approve and monitor the school’s work. • Ensure adequate financial resources. • Ensure sound risk management policies. • Select and support the chief executive and review his or her performance.
