Ask and you will know an introductionto theSnap survey software
How satisfied are they, your customers, the visitors of yourwebsite, patients, your staff, the members of your club or association ? What is it they feel you should add to your product line ?Well, just ask them for their opinion !Over the phone, by regular mail, by email or on your Websiteor go out in the street and enquire by PDA or Pocket-PC.
Once the data have been collected, you will proceed to the Analysis.Beside the traditional frequency tables or – graphs(how often does occur ?), you will detect correlations between the profile of your respondent(e.g. age, education, department,…)and the scores he/she has given. You will see whether there are significant differences betweenspecific services and departmentsand how big the gap is between their expectations and evaluations.
The survey softwareSnap offers you all you needto address these questions.
Questionnaire design Snap offersdifferent typesof question styles.Using thosebasic styles, you can buildnew ones. And specifythat a given styleautomaticallyproceedsto a ‘next’ style.
Print or export You can print the questionnairee.g. to a .pdf fileor export ite.g. to an HTML or.rtf or .wmf file,so that you can attachit to an email thatyou send out forconsultationand eventually, to have it printed and be used as the real questionnaire form.
Variables While you design the questionnaire, Snap automatically creates Variables for each question. You will use these variables later, during the Analysis phase. Moreover, you can create additional variables, that will make analyses easier and/or more detailed.
Publish as Web/PDA You may also ‘publish’ the questionnaire either in HTML format (for Web or Intranet) or for download into a Pocket-PC or PDA. In other words, Snap allows you to combine paper, CATI, CAPI and electronic data-entry for the one and same survey.
Data – entry (4 modes)e.g. Interview Mode Snap offers 4 different modes of data-entry. The Interview Mode, shown here, is ideal for face-to-face (CAPI) or telephone surveys (CATI).
Entry via Scanning For high-volume paper forms, the data-entry can be done by scanning.Either directly from the scanner unit, or by reading in the .TIF files generated by a different software (e.g. Teleform).
via email or other Digital surveys will generate a normal email message, that you then import from your Inbox. Should ‘old’ data reside in a file (Excel, Access, database – your old surveys, remember?), you can import them using Snap’s Database link routine.
Tables It is extremely simple to produce a frequency table. Or cross-tables having rows and columns. All kind of different percentages can be displayed. You can add your comments and notes in the section below.
Graphs Evidently, you can show the results in a graph. Many types of graph are available, each of them ready to be modified to your specs. Just like any other Analysis, you can print it or copy/paste it to some other program (such as the Microsoft Office suite).
Weights, scores Typical evaluations (Very good, good,..) can be given ‘weights’, so that they can be used in further calculations. In statistical ‘jargon’ this is : transform ordinal variables into interval variables. Such transformation evidently requires a decisionby management. Is extremely useful when doing benchmarking (e.g. between depts or over time).
Correlations Within a cross table of 2 variables, the Chi-square test allows you to look for a ‘correlation’ between these variables. When comparing the ‘pro-rata expected’ and ‘real’ values, you will notice a clear gap between them. In such case, there is a ‘correlation’.
Build your own styles Each row or column can be edited (color, font text placement, size..). You can save these modified styles as a set of house styles.
Significancies Are we confident the results to be ‘significant’, i.e. truly representative (instead of ‘by pure chance’)? Default values of 99% and 95% are used as test values, but can be changed as you like.
Factor and Cluster analysis Snap will detect ‘clusters’ of behavior. These are groups that highly differ from one another, but that are very homogeneous internally.
Export of Reports You can compile results into a batch (report). Such report can then be exported to a printer, or to different types of files (e.g. HTML for your website).
Use Snap’s free Viewer Snap also offers a Viewer tool, that you may freely send out. It is then up to the user to choose which results he/she wants to print or copy/paste.
