  17. ‘‘The future of Orthodontics in the Mediterranean Area’’ Part 3

  18. Do you feel there might be a scope to develop a “orthodontic culture” in the Mediterranean area? Yes, Similar doctors and patients mentality. Not well established specialty dentists feel that we share a common pie. Society need more education .

  19. How could it be achieved? It could be achieved by pointing out the problems of each area addressing the issues meeting, discussing and exchanging ideas sharing experiences setting goals & uniting our efforts

  20. Could common university training and research programs be developed and shared in the future? Erasmus guidelines are here to stay and I think all universities in our area if the want to serve the specialty should follow them. As country without university we will try to have all our members from that programs. Regarding common research programmes, our members are willing and ready to work in such programmes.

  21. Are there possible strategies to be applied to facilitate such projects that you could suggest? Are there possible limitations you can see in this approach? The main problem is raising funds, especially when we are talking for small countries like Cyprus. Ideas and strategies are a big issue which needs a meeting by it self.

  22. Could a common journal, jointly edited by the associations in the area, be of help? It is an idea that should be discussed if we feel that there is a lack of journals. What can be the purpose of such a regional journal in the globalize world especially in the era of electronic explosion.

  23. Should such a journal be more research oriented or have a more clinical target? A combination of both? The journal should have more clinical target and promote the so called Mediterranean culture and publish the research of the area.

  24. Do you feel there still a need for journals to reach a I.F. (Impact Factor)? Is it needed in your country? No, because right now we are covered from the other journals.

  25. Do you think that PIO might help in disseminating and sharing orthodontic knowledge? We are not well aware of PIO so we can not answer.

  26. Cairo is only the starting point we hope that we continue. Thanks to the Italians for the effort that they invested.
