MORTAR PLATOON • Mortar Platoon Leader • 23 enlisted soldiers • 4 M1064 120mm Mortar Carriers • 1 M577 Command Vehicle • Platoon works directly for the Battalion Commander to provide battalion-level indirect fires.
SUPPORT PLATOON • Support Platoon Leader • 79 enlisted soldiers • 38 vehicles • Platoon works directly for the Battalion Executive Officer to provide the battalion with all logistical support, to include fuel, ammunition, and field rations.
BATTALION SCOUT PLATOON • Battalion Scout Platoon Leader • 29 enlisted soldiers • 10 M1025 HMMWVs • Platoon will work directly for the Battalion Commander to provide battalion level reconnaissance and screening missions. • Scout Platoon Leader is the Battalion Commander’s “eyes and ears” on the battlefield.
