Treatment Author: Susan Jaslove Genre: Social Point of View; Trans-media Children’s Book Title: The Nuts and Bolts of Dinner Logline (short pitch): Young Dorothy eats cookies for dinner instead of vegetables. After dreaming about her life as Dorothy the Robot, who eats vegetables instead of nutritious nuts and bolts, she wakes up to realize that vegetables are the nuts and bolts of a healthy human diet. Synopsis: This original trans-media children's book is about the awakening of young Dorothy to the need for a healthy diet. With music from the Wizard of Oz and references to the movie throughout the video, young children can easily relate to Dorothy’s awakening. Roxie the bulldog helps capture children’s attention as well. Sequences are repeated in the real world as a young girl and then in the dream world as a robot. Everyone in the video tries to teach Dorothy the importance of getting a colorful variety of vegetables and fruit in her diet, from Mother to Professor Robot to Roxy the Robot Dog.
