  3. 2013 HOMECOMING WEEK! • October 21-25 • All CLUBS MUST PARTICIPATE! • Floats must represent a music video from the 80’s until now. • It must be a song/video (ex. “Vogue” by Madonna) NOTan artist (ex. Madonna songs). Song/Video must be appropriate! Priority Picks: • 1st: Seniors • 2nd: Juniors • 3rd: Sophomores • 4th: Freshmen… • all others are randomly picked (lottery style).

  4. TO DO • Pick Float Theme! • Pick your Color War Activity! • REMEMBER: • We only have one cotton candy machine, one popcorn machine, and one snow cone machine!!! • We have limited extension cord spots in the field day.

  5. HOMECOMING EVENTS… • 10/21: Party Like a Rock Star! Dress-up as your favorite music artist or get a bunch of friends together and dress-up as a band! • 10/22: Color Wars! Rep your Class! 6- light blue, 7 – orange, 8- purple, 9- green, 10 – yellow, 11 – blue, 12 – red, staff - pink • 10/23: Pep Rally! Dress in your best Panther Pride Blue & White! • 10/24: Parade 10am, Football Game 3pm, Haunted House/MS Homecoming Dance 6pm • 10/25: HS Homecoming Dance 7:30pm ALL 9-12th Graders Welcome…$75 pp • Daily Games and DJ during lunches! • Penny Wars! • HS Video Competition voted by Middle School!

COLOR WARS Homecoming Color Wars Guidelines: • You must submit an email with a list of 10 student volunteers that will assist in this event to Ms. Stewart by October 18th. • This list will then be distributed to all Middle/High Teachers. ( ONLY THE STUDENTS LISTED WILL BE EXCUSED FROM CLASS and RECEIVE WRISTBANDS! ) • Your organization must secure its own TENT, tables, chairs, extension cords, etc. • We will NOT be distributing tents out to any organization. • On the day of the event, your organization will be assigned a location on the court by the Activities Director starting at 7:30 ambased on electricity needs and activity. • Preference will be given to those organizations that require extension cords. • Your organization is responsible for the set-up ANDclean-up after the Field Day activity. (Plan for student volunteers to help all day during the Field Day). YOUR GROUP MUST BE READY BEFORE THE STUDENTS ARE RELEASED FOR FIELD DAY.

  8. COLOR WARS Homecoming Color Wars Guidelines CONTINUED: • Your organization will need to set-up on the Basketball court (around the cement perimeter of the court). A map will be provided to you with your tent’s exact location. • If your sponsor is unable to supervise your table, you must secure a parent volunteer or another adult to do so. Please email Ms. Arango, for assistance. • Your organization will NOT be handling money. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your tickets. • Return tickets to the treasurer in your ticket collection bag at the end of field day, along with the attached ticket recap sheet. • Remember, SGA receives 10% of your sales in order to cover the cost of Field Day Events. • You must create a display that indicates the amount of tickets for each item or activity you are selling (example: pizza slice = 2 tickets).

  9. PARADE • This year SGA will continue our 4th Annual Homecoming Parade! • This year’s theme is: “Pepper Wants His MTV!” • With the abundant amount of clubs and honor societies, we invite all of you to participate in our 4th Annual Parade!

  10. PARADE • Only 20 parade participants per float. You sponsor will receive wristbands on Parade Day! • The theme of your float should pertain to a music video and it should be well reflected throughout your float. We encourage you to be creative! • Your float will be judgedwith a rubric. • Each club/honor society will have an allotted time to do a performance whether it be a QUICK skit or dance (or anything that pertains to the theme of your float) – • NO MORE THAN 2 MINUTES (QUICK PERFORMANCES!). • We suggest that you stay away from poems or lengthy speeches…JUSTDO THE CHORUS OF THE SONG! • The parade route will follow the car pool lane.

  11. PARADE • Please be aware that ALL MATERIALS MUST BE PURCHASED THROUGH CLUB FUNDS WITH A MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF $1,000. SGA WILL NOT PROVIDE PAINT, PAPER, GLITTER, ETC. Therefore a purchase order must be completed, PRIOR to buying the items. • In order for your float to be able to participate in the event, it must meet the following criteria: Deadline: • Float must be at school no later than: 7:00 am on Thursday, October 24, 2013. Gates will open at 6:30am. Floats are to be parked in the Faculty Parking Lot near the PE field. • Set-Up Time: 7:30am – 9:15am • Line-Up: 9:30 am • Call-out Students: 9:45am • Parade Begins: 10:00 am

PARADE RUBRIC • Appearance of Float (5pts): • *Creative theme • *Neat, well-organized • *Uses space well with props, decorations, music • *Able to maneuver easily (rolls) • Banner (5pts): • *Banner with organization’s name clearly written • *Theme/Name of Float on banner • *Creative, original • Authenticity of Participants (5pts): • *Students dressed in costumes relating to theme/float • Theatrical/Dance Presentation in Front of Judges (5pts): • *Creative presentation • *Entertaining • *Relates to theme • ORGANIZATION

  13. FOOTBALL GAME, HAUNTED HOUSE & MS COSTUME DANCE • Thursday, October 24th • Football Game starts at 3pm $3 Pre-Sale, $4 Gate • Haunted House 6-9pm $10 Unlimited Entrance, $5 Single Entry • MS Costume Dance 6-9pm $5 Entrance * Refreshments Will Be Sold

  14. HS HOMECOMING DANCE • For ALL High School Students • $75 online • Semi-Formal • Oct. 25th * 7:30pm • New Location: Hilton Doubletree Hotel

  15. MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION • FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS • GET READY!!! PLAYED on the FRIDAY SHOW! • This year we are doing something new! We are competing to see who can win the BEST video of the year. BE CREATIVE Try to get your whole class to be in it!!! The more classmates you have in it, the better you are scored. You have from now until: October 18, 2013. • Your music video: • Must be with the song you just picked for the parade. • At least 20 people from your class. • Has to be a Minimum of 1 minute Maximum of 3 minutes. • Will be judgedby MS students • Has to be appropriate.

  17. PENNY WARS • SO HERE IS HOW IT WORKS! PENNY WAR RULES: • Each class will receive a jug and will need to Decorate it by October 1st, 2013… and turn it in to Ms. Stewart that day! • Each class tries to fill the jug with as many pennies as possible! They count as points! • If another class sees a jug with lots of pennies they can put nickels, dimes, and quarters into the jug and it will cancel out the pennies. EXAMPLE- A quarter will cancel out 25 pennies. • Money can be placed in the jugs with the SGA Officers in lunch from October 2nd-18th , 2013. WINNERS: • The class with the most pennies will win bragging rights!!! • WINNERS ANNOUNCED THE FOLLOWING WEEK! • Support Celebrating!!!

  18. DO NOT FORGET ORGANIZATION IS ESSENTIAL • Secretaries have to take minutes and attendance of each meeting. Minutes must be TYPED and placed in your folder! • We will begin checking folders on October 1st. • You will be fined if it is not in place. • Update your Bulletin Boards for October: 7th, 10th, Sakura, Nu Delta Alpha, Ujima, National English Honor, National Spanish Honor • Presentation and Guidelines will be posted in the Club Section of the Website under the SGA link!

  19. DUE OCTOBER 1ST We start doing business: • That day we start fining clubs • We will be checking-in to one of your meetings to supervise. • You need to have everything in place for in your club folder. • Club fees are due • We need to have ALL class officer contracts • Update CLUB WEBPAGE!
